Last Friday, I talked to the class about who we thought would win the Superbowl. The majority of them thought Denver Broncos would win and only a few thought Seattle would take the title. I told the kids that I wanted the Seahawks to win because I tend to go for the underdogs (I did that 3 years ago for the Saints!). WOW... last night's game was ridiculous! I never saw that coming. Not even a close game, which I felt bad for Peyton Manning and his team. I don't know what happened with the Broncos. Nonetheless, I am happy that the Seahawks won their very first Superbowl. It'll be fun to talk with the class about the game today!
Because last week was a short week, I wasn't able to take as many photos as usual. I can't wait to finally have a normal five day week of school.
We worked on our self portraits for our class t-shirts.
We worked on our monthly books (Self Portraits and ABC).
I'm starting to have students take home "Word Sorts" in their folder holders for reading. One example of a word sort is sorting th, wh, ch, and sh pictures. It's good for students to sort these pictures by their sounds and have them become fluent and confident with their sorting. They will be taking home plastic bags with their word sorts so they can practice their word sorts at home with you! Make sure they keep them in their folder because we glue these sorts into our guided reading notebooks.
Can't believe February is already here! I am definitely feeling the love with my students. February is going to be one BUSY month of special events (Valentine's Day, 100th Day of School, another field trip!), conferences, and special dress up days at school.
