We've been doing a lot of plant talk lately, which is PERFECT for this time of year because pretty soon things will be blooming! I gave each table group a nonfiction book and had them read it with one another and write down words, sentences, or illustrations of something they learned.
After writing down the things they learned, each table group came to the front of the classroom and explained to everyone what they learned from their book. Each student got to be the "teacher" and teach something new to the class.

We planted Marigold flower seeds a little over a week ago and have been watching them carefully. Over the holiday weekend, they finally have begun to sprout! Below are the kids' first journal observations of the seeds.

We are continuing to write more poems; the ones featured below are about flowers. We will share all of the poems we've been writing on Friday after our Music Concert!

Ice Cream Party Fun
The class earned their ice cream party after working together to fill up their fish bowl. It was a chilly, but sunny day so we brought the ice cream outside and enjoyed the afternoon eating and playing.

We have mystery critters at our school! I had the class make predictions on what animal(s) could be inside the eggs. Their guesses included: robins, woodpeckers, chickens, alligators, ducks, geese...
They are resting in an incubator in Mrs. Seidensticker's room. We will watch them over the next 21 days and hopefully get to see them hatch at school!
