What an AMAZING turnout of parents at our class Pizza Party! I've never seen such strong involvement from families. Your support and donations were very generous and I am so thankful to have you all. A million times over---THANK YOU!!! I hope you all enjoyed seeing just a tiny glimpse of the life of a kindergartener.
Friday's Read-A-Thon was revolved around the WINTER OLYMPICS so all of the activities were centered around that. Each classroom focused on a different winter sport: Mrs. Seidensticker had figure skating, Mrs. Blakeborough had bobsled racing, and I had skiing.

| We held a large morning meeting with all 3 kinder classes |
 |
| We passed the "Olympic torch" around as we said good morning to each other |
We later had our first ALL SCHOOL ASSEMBLY in the gym. Students from each classroom were represented and held up our Classroom Expectations. They also introduced themselves and shared one classroom rule. Way to go Brooklyn and Dominik!

| They were SO brave! |
In my classroom, we talked about the rings on the Olympic symbol and what they represent. People from all over the world come to one place to play sports and compete. The students also learned that if the athletes do really well, they can win a gold, medal, or bronze medal. However, winning is not what the Olympics is about: it's about coming together and doing what you love. We watched a clip from the 2010 Winter Olympics in Toronto and were amazed at a freestyle skier as he did flips and tricks down a steep slope. My activity for the students was to decorate their own skis with an AB pattern...I wanted to tie in some academics! ;)
At the end of the day, our third grade buddies paid us a visit and read with us. It is so cute watching the older ones interact with the younger kids.
In Social Studies, we are focusing on About Me and putting together a keepsake book. Next week's math and reading stations will have an About Me theme.
To end this week's post, those of you who came to our Pizza Party saw the balloons on your child's locker. These are our "Hopes and Dreams" on what your child hopes to accomplish in kindergarten. Some of them are academic while others have a SMART focus.
Good night!
