The color of our turkey feathers represent our favorite foods to eat during Thanksgiving
Posted below, we are working on our place mats for our Kindergarten Thanksgiving Feast this Tuesday.
Creating patterns using shapes
We learned how to draw turkeys. I incorporated some math into it as well :)
In reading, we discussed what it means to visualize and that good readers use this strategy when they read. Sometimes books may not always feature pictures to go along with the words so readers have to imagine in their heads what is going on in the story. I read this little poem to the class and had them draw a picture of what they visualized as they listened.
Notice the tiny button that "popped off" in the story...great attention to detail!
I love how each one looks a little bit different than the other--we all create different images in our head on what happens in a story!
Our Stuffed Animal and Favorite Book day was a success on Friday. The kids were so excited to have their special animal with them the ENTIRE day at school.

I added a few new stations during playtime for students to choose from: LEGOS, kitchen, and coloring station. I gotta say, they are very popular with the class! It makes me very happy to see all the writing that goes on at the coloring station.
So...I got a little stir crazy on this post and thought you'd want to know a little bit more about your child's teacher. I am sure they only tell you so much about me once they get home from school (other than being a huge GB Packer fan!), so here's some tidbits to get to know me better.
5 Random Facts About Me:
1. I used to competitively dance. Now I just enjoy going to Zumba classes. One day, I hope to teach dance to young girls and/or start taking studio classes.
2. Sushi and Italian food are my top favorite foods.
3. This summer has been my most favorite one yet: I turned 25, went to Las Vegas and Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and ran my first 5K (The Color Run in Minneapolis).

Puerto Vallarta = paradise!
4. I am actually very creative and artsy, and before going into education, I thought about graphic design or retail merchandising. Now I just enjoy art as a hobby. (I am totally meant to work with children!)
5. I will try anything once; for example, I went ziplining for the first time earlier this year, UPSIDE DOWN in the middle of a rainforest! Next on my list: skydiving.
Only a 2 day week this week! Then a nice long relaxing Thanksgiving vacation. Who's a happy teacher? This girl!
