Happy Mother's Day!

I want to give a big shout-out to all of you moms. What you do is incredible and I am so honored to be able to teach your children every day. I hope that you enjoyed your Mother's Day gifts--the class worked very hard on them all week.

Each student came up with their own sentimental words to write in a letter to you.
We made mini books for our moms!

 Science Learnings
In science, we took garbage that is normally recycled and morphed them into creative things.
Ella made a robot out of a tissue box.
Macy made a pencil holder out of an aluminum can.
Erik made a UFO out of a plastic tomato container.
Tyler took a water bottle and made a spaceship.

Gavin L. made a big spaceship.

Mrs. Burton from St. Catherine's University taught us another neat science lesson on Wednesday. She gave each student a different colored paint chip and then we went outside to search for living and nonliving things that were the same color as their paint chip. The class is learning that living things breathe, grow, need food, and drink water.

On Wednesday, the class and I celebrated being "Toadally Terrific" with a popcorn party. Thank you to those of you who donated popcorn. We have enough for another popcorn party! Mmm...
We watched Magic School Bus while enjoying our popcorn.
On Tuesday, we had the district technology integration teacher Mr. Kris come in and teach us how to use Kahoot on the i-Pads. Kahoot is a collection of questions on specific topics. Created by teachers, students, business-people and social users, people are asked in real-time different questions, creating a social, fun and game-like learning environment. The class loved it! Mr. Kris will be back to teach us another technology lesson using PearDeck.

Teacher Appreciation Week
I felt very loved from all the sweet, thoughtful notes and gifts that I was given last week. PTO did a wonderful job as well with having a creative gift for each teacher at JP. One of them was this giant cookie from Eileen's Colossal Cookies (love that place!). I absolutely love what I do and couldn't ask for a better, more rewarding career. I told the class that tokens of appreciation are fun to receive, but that they are the biggest gift that I could ask for!
