Planting

Green Thumbs
Our root vegetables and grass are really sprouting!
Our grass
Radishes--these seeds sprouted the fastest
Beets
Carrots--these took the longest to sprout
Drawing our observations of our plants
The grass cups allow us to see the roots in the soil.
My beets have a purple stem.
Mrs. Burton taught us a lesson on Wednesday about living vs. nonliving things. She divided the class into groups of three and gave each student a specific role: illustrator, recorder, and editor. Each group had to create a poster on a living thing and tell how you can tell it's a living thing.

In reading, we have been practicing reading with expression and fluency. We also talked about story setting, characters, problem, and solution.

To end this week's blog post, I wanted to share this very sweet, thoughtful poem I received on Friday from a parent. She wrote this poem in the eyes of her daughter. It brought tears to my eyes! How personal, touching, and appreciative. In this field, one of the hardest things I've felt as a teacher is feeling under-appreciated so when I do receive words of kindness or a simple thank you, it means the world to me! This poem and the happiness I felt while reading it will last a lifetime. Thank you!
