Drive-In Movie
We collected recycled boxes and transformed them into cars for our annual drive-in movie day on Friday. Kids chose which movie they wanted to see (choices included The Tigger Movie, Eloise, Wild Kratts, and Arthur's Adventure) and "drove" their car over to the designated classroom/movie theater.
Painting our cars outside with tempera paint.
After the paint dried, we added details like license plates, head lights, tail lights, and steering wheels.
All set to go!
Summer is right around the corner **sniff sniff** (but I am also feeling excitement for the next chapter in my students' lives!) and one of the activities the class has been working so hard on is making memory books to remember their year together.
We were able to tour a first grade classroom and meet Mrs. Waller and her class last Tuesday. The purpose of the 1st grade visit is to ease kindergarten nerves with their transition to a new grade. Before our visit, we came up with a list of questions to ask her boys and girls, such as 1. Do you have playtime? 2. Does the classroom have a bathroom? 3. What do you learn in reading/math/science? and 4. What happens if you get in trouble? Do you have take-a-break spots? The kindergartners learned that while there are some differences, 1st grade is very much the same, just a different grade!
Kindergarten students got to go off with a 1st grader and check out their desks and different areas of the classroom.
1st graders have the same subjects as our schedule--just at different times
Science Room
We were able to get one last use in the science room. We used one of the science kits called Marble Run and engineered our own tracks with wooden blocks and marbles. The kids worked in groups of 2.
