Chippy made his own Olaf!
He wants to be a reading superhero just like us.
He made some friends with our stuffed animals.
Hanging upside down like Spiderman!
Here are a few more things I missed from my last blog post. In math, we've been learning about 2D and 3D shapes. We read a book called The Shape of Things where the illustrator takes ordinary shapes and transforms them into something more. For example, a circle changes into a Ferris wheel. A triangle changes into a sailboat. A square turns into a house. Each student made a page to go into our own "Shape of Things" class book.
A hexagon is just a hexagon until you add lines. Then it's a sun.
A rhombus is just a rhombus until you add a rectangle. Then it's a truck.
A triangle is just a triangle until you add a table. Then it's a birthday (party).
A rhombus is just a rhombus until you add a head, tail, and legs. Then it's a dog.
A square is just a square until you add a circle. Then it's a car.
A square is just a square until you add grass. Then it's a house.
A rhombus is just a rhombus until you add a string. Then it's a kite.
A trapezoid is just a trapezoid until you add triangle and lines. Then it's a volcano.
A square is just a square until you add smiley face. Then it's a person.
In reading, one of our superpowers is pointing to words we know. We went on a word hunt around our classroom for words we can read all by ourselves!
