A new friend

For a few weeks now, we received a new visitor to our classroom. Her name is Serena Pitala and she comes to us from Saint Kate's. She is currently in the process of getting her degree in Elementary Education and will be with our class until mid-May. She will be teaching morning meeting, social studies, math, and science lessons every Wednesday. This past Wednesday, Ms. Pitala taught us what wants and needs are and how they are different from one another. Needs are things that keep us safe and healthy whereas wants are things that we wish to have.

In science, we went outside and looked for signs of spring and documented it.

In writing, we completed a rainbow poem about colors.

In math, we've been reviewing what 3D shapes are and made our own shapes out of paper (cones, cylinders, pyramids, and cubes). There's a catchy song on YouTube that you can listen with your child at home: 3D Shapes I Know

Dancing to our 3D shapes song
